Dr. Jim Pietrantonio


Dr. Jim Pietrantonio of Los Gatos Optometric Vision Care graduated from San Jose State University in 1987 having completed Bachelor of Science degrees in Clinical Psychology and Biological Health Science. He obtained his Optometry degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1993. Dr. Pietrantonio also completed his residency training in General Ophthalmology through the University of Texas Medical School in 1994.

As a comprehensive Doctor of Optometry, he has special interests and training in co-management of Lasik and cataract surgery, glaucoma, retinal abnormalites as well as treatment of eye diseases and specialty fitting of all types of contact lenses.

Dr. Pietrantonio's interests include snow and water skiing, backpacking, photography, scuba diving, tennis, golf, racquetball, ice hockey, cycling and travel.

Dr. Pietrantonio was awarded a research fellowship through the National Eye Institute where he co-authored and presented to the American Academy of Optometry in Orlando, Florida. He has also written a chapter on "Contact Lenses and Their Uses" in a book called "Your Vision... All about Modern Eye Care". Dr. Pietrantonio also has been the recipient of numerous scholarships in his Optometric career from the American Optometric Foundation, University of Houston College of Optometry and the Texas Public Education Scholarship Fund.
