
Jim Pietrantonio, O.D.
Dr. Jim Pietrantonio graduated from San Jose State University in
1987 having completed Bachelor of Science degrees in Clinical
Psychology and Biological Health Science. He obtained his Optometry
degree from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1993.
Dr. Pietrantonio also completed his residency training in General
Ophthalmology through the University of Texas Medical School in 1994.
As a comprehensive Doctor of Optometry, he has special interests and
training in co-management of Lasik surgery, treatment of eye diseases
and contact lenses.
Dr. Pietrantonio's interests include snow and water skiing,
backpacking, photography, scuba diving, tennis, golf, racquetball, ice
hockey, cycling and travel.
Dr. Pietrantonio was awarded a research fellowship through the
National Eye Institute where he co-authored and presented to the
American Academy of Optometry in Orlando, Florida. He has also written
a chapter on "Contact Lenses and Their Uses" in a book called "Your
Vision... All about Modern Eye Care".
Dr. Pietrantonio also has been the recipient of numerous
scholarships in his Optometric career from the American Optometric
Foundation, University of Houston College of Optometry and the Texas
Public Education Scholarship Fund.


Dr. Tim Coughlin
Dr. Tim Coughlin has been in practice in Los Gatos for 25 years. He
is past president of the Santa Clara County Optometric Society. He is
a member of the Flying Doctors, which provides medical, dental and eye
care to poor villages in Northern Mexico. He has also donated his time
and equipment to help establish an eye clinic north of Puerto Vallarta
in a village called Las Varas. A former clinical instructor at the
University of California, School of Optometry at Berkeley, he is still
active in the alumni association there. He is a fellow of the American
Academy of Optometry and is licensed to use therapeutic
Pharmaceuticals in the State of California. He has co-managed hundreds
of patients during the pre- and post-operative period surrounding
laser surgery.
Dr. Tim Coughlin is a past president of the Kiwanis Club of Los
Gatos and has been active most recently in the Fiesta de Artes, the
major club fundraiser held in August in downtown Los Gatos.
He lives with his wife, Judy, in Los Gatos, where they raised their
two children, Jenny, and Andy.
Dr. Coughlin graduated from the University of California at
Berkeley in 1968 with a B.A. in Bacteriology. The honors program was
completed in the major. After working for the University for three
years in the field of bacteriology, and a brief stint in the National
Guard, he was married and started optometry school. In 1975 he
graduated with honors from the UC Berkeley School of Optometry,
president of his class.
Dr. Coughlin has received numerous awards for scholastic
achievement, including the Laverne Alexander Platt Award and the Greg
Ward Scholarship. He is also the recipient of the Optometric
Recognition Award for continuing education.
Dr. Coughlin's interests include skiing, backpacking, stamp
collecting, gardening, photography woodworking and biking.
